Tweet Blogging About Blogging
Having just relaunched this site as a full blown blog, I thought it would be fitting that my first (ever!) post should about blogging itself. Why do I think it’s important? What will it do for my career? Why will anyone read it?

Since my blogging career is currently around five minutes old I don’t really know the answers yet but here’s an educated guess nonetheless.
Giving Something Back
While the web has now become the life-encompassing social medium we all know and love, the web design community has thrived with it. My job would be far more mundane, difficult and time consuming without the thoughts, ideas and solutions of others.
So this blog is a means of giving something back to the community that has served me so well, by sharing my experiences and hoping that at least some people will find them educational and inspirational.
Education
The preparation involved in writing these posts could serve as a great education process for myself and I also find that putting ideas into writing always makes me think a little more deeply about topics, see ideas from different perspectives and enable me to make more informed decisions.
Reputation
The secondary purpose of my site is to attract work and to gain some sort of reputation as a competent designer. I am hoping that writing about my profession will instill confidence from prospective clients, possibly just as much as a physical piece of work would, and also portray a sense of passion and pride in my vocation.
As a Web Designer, I believe showing signs that you know your stuff backed up with a high quality portfolio of work is an excellent way of gaining status, building social networks and winning big projects. I want to keep the content on this site as fresh and informative as possible but having such fascinating and varied subject matter as digital design, that shouldn’t be a problem.
I may have some good points here or could be slightly naive but I guess the comments bit is there to tell me how right and wrong I am. I always love people’s feedback, good or bad.
Now to think about something else to write…
